I met three aquarists in Jamaica and had some other interesting experiences, and visited two public aquariums and an aquarium store in Cuba. After I've looked after my neglected fish (!) and sorted out all the photos, I shall be writing about what I found in the Caribbean (see below). Meanwhile a number of interesting articles were sent in by several contributors, as follows:

Practical Use of Garden Soil as a Rich Plant Substrate, and S. Naga Siddharth's humorous  Conversations Overheard in Aquarium Shops.

Hopefully new editor Ted Guglielmo will have as much success in collecting articles from his members as Mike has had.

The company offers extensive product support, answering questions and providing advice both before and after the sale, and the informative web site also contains moderated forums and lots of articles and information. - Editor's note: Policy change! I have observed that some Aquarticles articles have been reproduced on other web sites, mostly without my permission. Some articles have even been translated into other languages, mostly with my permission. We are all in the "business" of providing information, so I believe authors would find it acceptable if their articles are reproduced on other non-commercial web sites as well as in printed newsletters. A link to the original web site will be provided when articles are used. I believe authors would be interested to know when their articles are reproduced, so when informed I shall add details to the "Article Information" for each article.
Aquarium clubs and non-profit organisations may therefore use these articles in their own journals or web sites, provided they:
1. Credit Aquarticles, the author and the original publication or web site (if applicable).
2. Link to Aquarticles, and if applicable, to the original web site.
3. Advise Aquarticles of an article's use.
This is the stated policy on many aquarium club web sites. If any authors/editors do not agree with this change in policy, please advise, and this preference will be stated in the Article Information for each article.
