- January 11th. Editor's note: I just returned from my annual winter holiday. This time I spent two weeks in Jamaica and a week in Cuba. I met three aquarists in Jamaica and had some other interesting experiences, and visited two public aquariums and an aquarium store in Cuba. After I've looked after my neglected fish (!) and sorted out all the photos, I shall be writing about what I found in the Caribbean (see below). Meanwhile a number of interesting articles were sent in by several contributors, as follows:
- Two articles submitted by Indian aquarists: Nimish Mathur's excellent account of an easy inexpensive plant substrate,
Practical Use of Garden Soil as a Rich Plant Substrate, and S. Naga Siddharth's humorous  Conversations Overheard in Aquarium Shops.

Hopefully new editor Ted Guglielmo will have as much success in collecting articles from his members as Mike has had.
- Anita Macchio wrote to say that she has translated eight articles from Aquarticles into Italian for her website in Italy, www.vergari.com . Authors thus honoured have been advised.
- David Marshall, of the Ryedale Aquarist Society in England, has contributed articles about a number of unusual fish. His latest is about an African labyrinth fish,
The Leopard Bushfish, Ctenopoma Acutirostre.
